Now you have everything sorted out we can come to you for help Oh Goody, Is this a guess the theme? If so my guess is Layers. Because the shot has a multitude of layers with in it!
A perfect picture to start off your blog and the photowalk if you ask me. :) I really like the contrast between the shadows and the light in the clouds. Well done!
I also like the way you framed the shot with the trees - nice touch! The light coming from behind the clouds does show off some nice layering as Ron mentioned, though the use of the themes is options so no requirements to match any theme. Since you mentioned wanting to learn more about Photoshop I'll make one suggestion - you might want to try your hand at removing the bits of house and chimney at the bottom of your shot, replacing them with clouds. It would remove those distracting elements and give you good challenge in Elements 8.
Nice sky, and the framing of the trees. I agree with kisbear. Try to remove the top of the house or crop the picture a little. I thing it would be even better then.
Thanks and I will remove the house. All it took was one easy crop - and zappo!
Now, for learning PSE which tool/method would you recommend? I have played around with healing brush and really didn't like the results. Maybe just more practice with it and changing settings. What about clone or would something with layers be better? Better is defined as easier with good results. Thanks, John
Absolutley gorgeous! The two-tone blues, the bit of trees visible, those beautiful clouds and awesome composition! What a way to start the Walk!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot.....'Here's another fine mess you've gotten me into!'

ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the photowalk, John! I am loving the contrast between the highlights and shadows in the clouds, very dramatic!

Very nice shot! Clouds are sometimes harder than you'd think to get a really good one. And your cloning out of the housetop was very well done.
ReplyDeleteNice Job removing the housetop! See we are going to learn something everyday!
ReplyDeleteWow - that one cloud in the center is just spectacular! Great job on cloning out the house!
ReplyDeleteGreat clonning John, as those lower clouds were too beautiful to have cropped out!
